Dalat Waterfalls: Which Ones Are Worth It

Updated 2026 · By the Dalat App community

The highlands around Dalat are stitched with waterfalls, from a five-minute ride out of town to dramatic multi-tier drops an hour away. Here's an honest rundown of the main ones — how to reach them, when they're best, and which are actually worth the trip.

Datanla Falls — closest & most fun

Just ~5 km south of the centre, Datanla is the easy one: a series of cascades in the pine forest, reached by walking down or riding the famous alpine roller-coaster (a single-rail toboggan) — a hit with kids and anyone young at heart. Busy, a bit touristy, but genuinely fun and close.

Chain the waterfalls together by bike

Most falls are best reached on two wheels. Rent from a trusted local through the app — fair prices, clear terms — and pack homemade snacks for the ride from real Dalat cooks.

Pongour Falls — the most spectacular

About 40 km south of Dalat, Pongour is the showpiece: a broad, half-circle waterfall dropping over seven tiers of rock. It's at its thundering best in the rainy season. Worth the longer ride if you only visit one — the scale is on another level.

Elephant Falls — raw & powerful

Around 25 km southwest near Nam Ban village, Elephant Falls is wild and loud, with a slippery scramble down to the base for the best view. Wear proper shoes and take care on the wet rocks — it's rugged, not a manicured park.

Prenn Falls — easy & family-friendly

On the pass into town from the south, Prenn is a renovated, easy-access waterfall with landscaped grounds — a gentle stop, especially with kids, though more polished and less wild than the others.
