17 Best Things to Do in Dalat (by someone who lives here)
Dalat rewards slow travel. You could rush the “top 5” in a day, but the town's real magic is in its pine-forest air, café mornings and back-road waterfalls. Here's what's genuinely worth your time — and a couple of famous spots we think are overrated.
Nature & waterfalls
1. Datanla Falls — the closest falls to town (7 km) and the easiest win. Ride the alpine coaster down through the forest; it's touristy but genuinely fun. Come early to beat the crowds.
2. Pongour Falls — about 40 km out and the most spectacular in the region, a wide seven-tier curtain of water. Best right after the rainy season (October–December) when it's roaring.
3. Elephant Falls (Thác Voi) — powerful and raw, with a slippery path down to the base. Pair it with Linh An Pagoda and the Weasel coffee stops on the way.
4. Lang Biang Mountain — the highland's iconic twin peaks. Take the jeep to the first viewpoint or hike the longer trail for sweeping views over the plateau.
5. Tuyen Lam Lake & Truc Lam Monastery — a serene Zen monastery reached by cable car from Robin Hill, overlooking a pine-fringed lake. One of the calmest spots near town.

Coffee, farms & flavour
6. Me Linh Coffee Garden — sip coffee on a hillside terrace looking over coffee plantations and pine valleys. Yes, they serve the famous weasel (civet) coffee; the view alone is worth the ride.
7. Strawberry & vegetable farms — Dalat feeds much of Vietnam. Pick your own strawberries, or just marvel at the endless greenhouses on the town's edge.
8. Flower gardens — the central Dalat Flower Garden is pretty but touristy; the real show is the flower farms in the surrounding hills.
9. The night market (Chợ Đêm) — come hungry. Grilled rice paper (“Vietnamese pizza”), hot soy milk, avocado ice cream and mountains of strawberries. Peak Dalat.
Town & culture
10. Dalat Railway Station — a beautiful 1930s Art Deco station. Ride the short heritage train to Trai Mat and visit 11. Linh Phuoc Pagoda, covered head-to-toe in mosaic made from broken glass and ceramics.
12. Crazy House (Hằng Nga) — a surreal, Gaudí-esque guesthouse you can wander through. Divisive, but unforgettable.
13. Xuan Huong Lake — the heart of town. Walk or pedal-boat it, grab a lakeside coffee at sunrise.
14. The Clay Tunnel (Đường hầm đất sét) — a whole miniature Dalat sculpted from red clay. Quirky and photogenic.
Adventure
15. Canyoning — Dalat is Vietnam's canyoning capital: abseiling down waterfalls, cliff jumps and natural water slides at Datanla. Only go with a licensed, insured operator — this is the one activity where cutting corners is dangerous.

17. Just… a café day — honestly one of the best things to do here. Dalat's café scene is world-class. Pick a spot with a valley view, order a cà phê sữa, and watch the mist roll in.
Overrated, in our honest opinion: Prenn Pass viewpoints packed with tour buses, and the “Valley of Love.” Skip them and spend the time on a quiet coffee farm instead.
